12-18 Years: €50
Fillings: | White fillings anterior teeth from €115 White fillings posterior teeth from €125 Silver fillings posterior teeth from €115 |
Occasionally fillings that are more complex in nature and require longer time to place will cost €135 - €195. It is usual, though not always possible, to advise of the additional degree of difficulty before commencing treatment.
Most fillings are placed under rubber-dam isolation (making it easier to get a better, longer-lasting result) and with the aid of an operating microscope (to help improve treatment outcomes). Fillings placed in this way consistently last two or three times longer than the average filling.
All front tooth fillings are with tooth coloured materials. Where back teeth have sufficient enamel present to bond to, tooth coloured materials will be used. In cases where there is insufficient enamel present, usually below gum level, then silver amalgem will be used. This is because tooth coloured fillings have an excellent bond to enamel but a poor bond to dentine. Silver fillings however perform very well in these conditions as the silver is antibacterial. Where very large fillings can be placed this can avoid or postpone the need for crown placement.

X-rays:
Digital x-rays (significantly reduced x-ray dosage compared with conventional film based dental x-rays) are taken initially to examine bone levels, tooth and root morphology, assess shape and number of root canals where necessary, note and assess existing fillings, crowns, root canal treatments and to examine for decay, dead teeth, failing treatment, in order to formulate a Treatment Plan, listing all possible treatment options, to be discussed with the patient.
X-rays are normally included in the examination fee. Rarely, where x-rays are necessary to establish a diagnosis at an initial visit for a filling or extraction, there may be a fee (€20 - €30) for the x-rays taken and the diagnosis (this is where a patient has not attended for examination, and presents requiring immediate diagnosis and treatment e.g. for pain relief).
Extra-oral x-rays (OPG) €50
3D Cone beam CT scan (CBCT) €125 where necessary to establish a diagnosis. Where necessary during root-canal treatment there will be no additional fee for the 3D scan.
Extractions: €110

Crowns:
A crown is normally recommended to protect a back tooth ( premolar or molar) following root canal treatment. Front teeth often do not require a crown following root canal treatment as they are not subjected to the same forces as back teeth.
Bonded Crown: €800
3 visits, including provisional crown, prepared and placed using microscope. Generally, porcelain fused to gold crowns are placed, with the gold for strength and the porcelain for appearance. Emax or Zirconia crowns may also be placed.
Some teeth may require a crown to restore the tooth, even if a root canal treatment is not required. Crowns may also be placed for cosmetic reasons.
Bridgework: 1 or more missing teeth can be replaced using a bridge. This involves preparing one or more teeth adjacent to the space, and is less common now with the use of dental implants, thus avoiding interfering with the adjacent teeth. By quotation, from €950
Dental Implants:
Implants can be used to replace 1 or more teeth or to hold a denture in position.
Straumann Dental Implant & Abutment & Crown: €2,400
A crown and abutment is placed on the corresponding Implant to replace a missing tooth.
Bone augmentation / Guided bone regeneration: from €350
Please see our Implants page for more details.
